On March 3rd, Grassroots Initiative, the Sikh Coaltion and Queens Museum of Art opened the doors for the first public showing of Fighting Prejudice with Votes: Sikhs in New York.
Over 100 visitors came to meet the newly elected Sikh officials, photographer Sarah Tew and other special guests at this special engagement, such as State Senator John Sabini.
Several city officials came and addressed the crowd, such as City Council Member John C. Liu, the first Asian American elected to the City Council, Immigrant Affairs Commissioner Guillermo Linares, the first Dominican elected to public office in the United States, and Chair of the Taxi and Limousine Commission Matthew Daus.
