Each year, at least 100-200 candidates in New York City are thrown off the ballot because of technical defects in the paperwork they file to run for office. Without the costly legal help to fight these challenges, large numbers of candidates are unable to get their name on the ballot and voters suffer. To combat these barriers, Grassroots Initiative initiates lawsuits, as needed, to preserve candidates' right to ballot access and protect voters' right to a choice in elections.
