Civic Education

Grassroots Initiative works with established and emerging community leaders across the country to open doors to public service and bridge the divide between "community" leadership and "political" leadership.

By lowering the risks and obstacles for entering public service, Grassroots Initiative helps to connect communities to government resources and ensure that public decision-making can reflect and benefit from the rich diversity and assets that our country has to offer. In the process, we help establish role models and sustainable support structures to drive forward permanent systemic change.

Grassroots Initiative is pleased to offer training and support for community groups of all shapes and sizes. Our workshops address a wide range of topics including organizing strategies, understanding the petitioning process, and breaking into party politics. New York City Resources

New York City is home to more than 30,000 elected offices. These positions range from county committee members in local political parties to our representatives in Washington, D.C.

Despite this abundance of public service opportunities, one of the biggest obstacles to entering politics is knowing how and where to start. To help, we have assembled a few documents that can assist you.
