Political Party Positions

Political parties not only run candidates to be elected to public offices, but also have an internal structure of elected party officials. These are County Committee members, District Leaders, and State Committee members. The County Committee is the lowest-level elected office in most municipalities, and is a great place for individuals looking to run for higher offices to "get their feet wet." These party positions are voluntary offices that can be used to build a base of support and gain the political and technical experience necessary to run for higher-level, public offices.
